L3Harris Technologies has secured a $50M delivery order to help the U.S. Marine Corps attain modern high-frequency radios.

The company said Friday it will provide Falcon III AN/PRC-160 HF radios and complementary tools in support of USMC’s High Frequency Radio II modernization program. L3Harris Technologies received the delivery order under a five-year, $765M contract awarded in 2017 for the Navy Portable Radio Program.

AN/PRC-160 is designed to provide troops with beyond-line-of-sight communications in environments denied of satellite signals.

The architecture of the small, lightweight radio allows for software-based encryption updates for boosted security and accommodates joint operations across different U.S. military forces.

Dana Mehnert, president of communication systems at L3Harris, said the radio is designed to comply with the U.S. Marine Corps' battlefield communications requirements.
