Vertex Aerospace will operate and maintain the base supply for the Air Education and Training Command's T-1A Jayhawk trainer fleet under a one-year, $77.2M contract from the U.S. Air Force.

The AF Life Cycle Management Center received three offers for the firm-fixed-price contract covering 178 jet trainers and will obligate $15.9M at the time of award, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

Locations of work are Randolph AF Base and Laughlin AFB in Texas; Vance AFB in Oklahoma; Columbus AFB in Mississippi; and Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida.

The contract runs through Nov. 30, 2020.

T-1A is built for advanced training of undergraduate student pilots in airlift or tanker operations, as well as  navigator training for U.S. and international military services.
