NVIDIA’s Anthony Robbins on Federal AI Adoption

Anthony Robbins, vice president of North American public sector at NVIDIA and a 2019 Wash100 award recipient, told Federal News Network in an interview published Wednesday he believes defense contractors, universities, startups, systems integrators and civilian agencies should work together to help the federal government advance the adoption of artificial intelligence and improve citizen services.

“And in the case of artificial intelligence, the ability for us to be good service to the federal government requires us to play the greatest team sport we’ve ever played in participating in the transformation in the federal government,” Robbins added.

He shared his insights on the government’s efforts to accelerate AI adoption through several strategies issued by the Department of Defense and service branches and an executive order signed in February.

“So, I think the government is doing a pretty good amount of work projecting to industry some of the needs that they have,” Robbins said. “And I think it’s incumbent upon us to make sure that we do a good job listening, and then crafting strategy that we can support this marketplace.”

He also discussed the government’s focus on several use cases to facilitate the application of AI to enhance citizen services, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s AI Next program, robotic process automation and the role of the company’s graphic processing units in advancing AI.
