NVIDIA has introduced a compact artificial intelligence supercomputer designed to support edge computing and robotic devices.

Jetson Xavier NX can run AI workloads at a rate of 21 tera operations per second and uses up 10 watts of electricity, the company said Wednesday.

The computer is designed to process data from multiple high-resolution sensors and run neural networks simultaneously. In addition, it houses an AI software stack that works to accommodate accelerated libraries and complex networks.

“Jetson Xavier NX lets our customers and partners dramatically increase AI capabilities without increasing the size or power consumption of the device,” said Deepu Talla, vice president and general manager of edge computing at NVIDIA.

Lee Ritholtz, director and chief architect of applied artificial intelligence at Lockheed Martin, said that with the supercomputer’s “exceptional performance, small form factor and low power, we will be able to do more processing in real time at the edge.”
