Todd Gustafson, president of HP“™s federal business, wrote in an article published Friday how government agencies could automate manual tasks, improve the delivery of citizen services and address cybersecurity issues with the adoption of artificial intelligence.
He said a Deloitte study shows that AI could help agencies free up approximately 4.3B of labor hours and generate up to $41.1B in annual savings.
When it comes to citizen services, Gustafson discussed how AI could enable agencies to address issues in the event of a water main break and cited potential applications of AI in various areas, such as immigration, infrastructure projects and drone operations.
Amid cyber concerns associated with AI, he noted that some companies are leveraging AI to predict and immediately address impending cyber attacks.
“To keep up with the speed at which AI applications are evolving, government agencies should start to adapt their programs now and evaluate how AI can best assist in the future,“ Gustafson wrote.
