The General Services Administration is continuing efforts to consolidate its multiple-award schedules and modernize its government acquisition platforms, FCW reported Wednesday.
In August, GSA announced plans to discontinue the Federal Business Opportunities contracting website and transition it into a unified System for Award Management beta website by fiscal year 2020.Â
The beta SAM.gov platform will cover federal assistance, acquisition procedures, past performance data and contractor performance assessments. FedBizOpps is slated to cease operations on Nov. 12.
Last month, GSA completed phase one of the Multiple Award Schedules consolidation effort and reduced the number of special item numbers to 300.
Tim Hurlebaus, president at CGI’s federal arm and a 2019 Wash100 winner, said that it “doesn’t really matter†whether a company receives a contract from the GSA or from a government agency.
“I feel the same,†said Scott McIntyre, Guidehouse CEO and also a 2019 Wash100 winner. “We have a lot of vehicles.â€
