Avaya and RingCentral have officially begun a strategic partnership by collaborating on a cloud-based technology offering designed to help enterprise users communicate and collaborate.

The Avaya Cloud Office by RingCentral is scheduled for rollout in the first quarter of 2020 and designed to combine the latter's unified communications-as-a-service platform with the former's cloud migration, technology and support expertise, Avaya said Thursday.

Under a potential $500M agreement, RingCentral will provide $125M in preferred equity plus $375M in advance payments covering stock and licensing rights to the partnership.

Jim Chirico, president and CEO of Avaya, said he believes the addition of a UCaaS platform to the company's portfolio will help customers facilitate communications in the cloud.

RingCentral offers unified voice, team messaging, digital customer engagement, video meeting and integrated contact center products.
