The U.S. Army has incorporated a modular GPS technology built by General Dynamics’ GPS Source subsidiary into the U.S. European Command’s Stryker vehicles in Germany.

The Mounted Assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing Gen 1 platform works to trace GPS signals and transmit data to military devices without GPS reception, the company said Tuesday. In addition, MAPS Gen 1 may be modified to include additional features as they become available.

GPS Source also built the SENTRySCOUT tool, a technology that seeks to help warfighters shoot, travel and communicate under austere areas.

“The MAPS Gen 1 Assured PNT system that is being fielded today closes a capability gap for the U.S. Army in major areas of responsibility around the world,” said Robert Horton, vice president and director for PNT products at General Dynamics’ mission systems business.

U.S. European Command plans to deploy MAPS Gen 1 to thousands of vehicle systems in Europe.
