The International Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing Research has received a $7.6M contract from the U.S. Air Force to facilitate research and development activities on using blockchain concepts for manufacturing semiconductors.
The iCAMR will work to implement blockchain security methodologies and use a “digital twin†of manufacturing systems throughout the production process as part of the Trusted Semiconductor Manufacturing Pilot Project, the Department of Defense said Monday.
The Air Force Research Laboratory received one offer for the cost-type contract through a broad agency announcement and will obligate the full amount in fiscal 2019 research and development funds at the time of award.
Contract work will take place in Kissimmee, Fla., through Sept. 22, 2022.
The iCAMR, based in Osceola County, Fla., focuses on discovering new manufacturing methodologies for capabilities such as sensors, optics, photonics and other devices.
