Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky subsidiary unveiled the HH-60W combat rescue helicopter at the company’s development flight center in Florida. The aircraft is designed to carry out rescue missions and is equipped with a new fuel system that expands range coverage and optimizes internal tank capacity, Lockheed said Friday.
In addition, the helicopter offers updated defensive tools, hover performance, electrical features, avionics systems, weaponry and cybersecurity capabilities. The U.S. Air Force’s program of record requires the production of 113 HH-60W units to replace the HH-60 Pave Hawk. USAF tapped Sikorsky to manufacture 10 HH-60W units after the service branch’s issuance of a Milestone C approval.
“Sikorsky employees and our nationwide supply chain are ready to begin producing, delivering and supporting this all-new aircraft for the warfighter,†said Dan Schultz, president at Sikorsky.
