Lockheed Martin Subsidiary Added to Mobile Ad Hoc Network Alliance

Persistent Systems has inducted Lockheed Martin’s Procerus Technologies subsidiary to an organization of sensor and unmanned systems providers that utilize the Wave Relay network.

Lockheed may incorporate the Wave Relay service and the MPU5 radio to the Indago 3 unmanned aircraft system as a member of the Wave Relay Ecosystem, Persistent said Wednesday.

Persistent’s Wave Relay network will enable users to transmit location data, video, voice and text messages without a fixed communications infrastructure, while the MPU5 radio supports L-band and S-band frequencies.

“The users understand that, to truly network the battlefield, you need a robust, scalable solution that allows for unmanned systems and sensors to operate on a common network, empowering the whole team, and reducing weight on the operator,” said Shane Flint, vice president of business development at Persistent.

Lockheed’s Indago 3 drone is designed for compact transport and can hold 8.8-ounce payloads in 40-minute flights.
