Lockheed, Akhan Semiconductor Test Diamond-Based UAS Coating at AUSA Conference

Lockheed Martin and Akhan Semiconductor have demonstrated Akhan’s diamond-based coating technology that provides a layer of physical protection for unmanned aircraft systems.

Akhan said Wednesday its Miraj Diamond coating has exhibited protection against directed energy weapons during tests at the Association of the U.S. Army’s annual conference.

Miraj Diamond is designed to boost a UAS’ protection against lasers, electromagnetic weapons and other directed energy threats.

The protective coating brings scratch-resistance, thermal conductivity and other protective characteristics to optical parts of unmanned aircraft.

Lockheed provided the testing environment and weapons expertise for the demonstration.
