Leidos has donated a total amount of $500K to help the U.S. Army complete the service branch’s national museum.

The company said Wednesday it presented a $300K check at a ceremony in the national museum’s experiential learning center, adding to an existing $200K contribution.

“We are honored to support the Army Historical Foundation as they ensure that the stories of our Soldiers are preserved, shared and experienced," said Roger Krone, chairman and CEO at Leidos and a 2019 Wash100 recipient.

The service branch is putting the museum up at Fort Belvoir in Virginia with financial support from the museum’s capital campaign. The Army Historical Foundation has so far raised $178M towards the program’s $200M goal.

“Leidos’ generosity will go a long way in helping us construct a permanent tribute to the 30 million men and women who have worn the U.S. Army uniform,” said retired Lt. Gen. Roger Schultz, president of the Army Historical Foundation.

The museum is scheduled to welcome public visitors for free starting June 4, 2020.
