HAAS Alert to Further Develop Emergency Alert Tech for DHS

Chicago-based HAAS Alert is working with the Department of Homeland Security to develop and implement a technology that allows emergency response vehicles to digitally transmit real-time alerts.

The HAAS Alert-made HA-5 device sends information to the firm’s SafetyCloud platform and SafetyCloud sends alerts to drivers nearby, DHS Science and Technology Directorate said Thursday.

“S&T’s partnership with HAAS Alert helps them enhance their existing technology and enables them to work with first responders,” said Angela Ervin, program manager at DHS S&T.

These alerts will help motorists avoid collisions with emergency response vehicles and comply with related laws.

The updated system will also feature real-time dashboards, alerting algorithms and customized data reporting for emergency response teams.
