General Dynamics’ mission systems business has secured a five-year, $66 million firm-fixed-price contract to deliver expandable and rigid wall shelters to the U.S. Army. The Army will utilize the shelters to accommodate missions in austere locations and support various applications including medical facilities and command posts, the company said Tuesday.
In addition, the firm will design standard tactical shelters to allow transportability and accelerated deployment in ground-based areas and medium tactical vehicles. General Dynamics noted the shelter has a lighter weight and features a large operating space for warfighters.
“The new Army Standard Tactical Shelter – Expandable will provide the Army with the essential flexibility and mobility they need to quickly transport, deploy, and move shelters to support their missions,†said Jared Strait, director of General Dynamics’ mission systems business.
