CPI Aero Gets Boeing Contract for USAF A-10 Aircraft Assemblies

CPI Aerostructures has landed a $48M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from Boeing to deliver structural assemblies for the U.S. Air Force’s A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft fleet.

The company said Thursday it will provide four assembly shipsets and related program start-up costs under initial purchase orders with a cumulative sum of $6M.

Boeing secured a $999M Air Force IDIQ to manufacture 112 wing sets and spare kits for the aircraft. The company plans to place additional orders for 23 to 40 production shipsets with estimated values between $9.1M to $14.7M in line with the USAF contract.

“This award builds on our decade-long experience in manufacturing wing structures for the A-10 and cements our role as a key supply chain partner to Boeing on this aircraft to 2030 and beyond,” said Douglas McCrosson, president and CEO at CPI Aero.

CPI Aero is slated to carry out the first delivery in 2020.
