Boeing, Porsche Partner to Explore Future Urban Airspace

Boeing has partnered with automobile company Porsche to study the market and implementation of a potential urban air vehicle environment.

The firms will work to analyze the market feasibility of premium air vehicles and tackle other elements of urban air mobility, Boeing said Thursday.

Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing subsidiary, is also joining the partnership to develop an electric air vehicle concept that will feature vertical takeoff and landing.

“This collaboration builds on our efforts to develop a safe and efficient new mobility ecosystem, and provides an opportunity to investigate the development of a premium urban air mobility vehicle,” said said Steve Nordlund, vice president and general manager of NeXt, a Boeing organization engaging the idea of a next-generation mobility environment.
