AWS Expands Number of FedRAMP-Compliant Cloud Services for Federal Sector

Amazon Web Services has received approval under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program for 18 additional service offerings intended to help government customers manage sensitive or highly regulated workloads in the cloud.

Amendaze Thomas, manager of the government assessments and authorization program within the AWS security business, wrote in a blog entry posted Monday the FedRAMP’s Joint Authorization Board authorized six services within the US East/West regions.

Thomas added JAB cleared 14 more GovCloud (US) region services.

The latest certifications drove a 28.6 percent growth in the number of the company’s FedRAMP-compliant offerings, he noted.

AWS now holds moderate or high provisional authorizations for 91 offerings available on the FedRAMP Marketplace. A third party assessment organization evaluates AWS security controls against baselines under the federal government’s cloud program.
