Spire Global has secured $40M through a new funding round led by Bessemer Ventures, Global Public Offering Fund and Perennial Value Management Limited.

It will use the funds to accommodate aviation and weather forecast analytics through the development of new space-based offerings, Spire said Thursday.

In addition, the company plans to expand its sales, marketing and product initiatives and further the production of analytics and space technologies.

Spire deployed the 100th satellite to its commercial weather constellation and unveiled a new service that will help clients study potential atmospheric and oceanographic changes.

“Helping customers across all industries and governments tackle ever more frequent and extreme events in this era of Climate Change, that’s what is driving us every day,” said Alexander MacDonald, director at Spire’s weather business.

Several of Spire’s previous investors also participated in this funding round.
