SES has agreed to provide satellite connectivity to help facilities and vehicles across the globe access the Microsoft Azure cloud service.
The company said Monday it partnered with Microsoft to globally extend Azure access via multi-orbit satellite systems.
SES will offer its geostationary Earth orbit satellites, medium Earth orbit constellation, global gateway network and core terrestrial network infrastructure to globally support Azure customers.
The effort also aims to provide Microsoft Azure access to underserved communities, marine vessels and deployed airplanes.
“We are collaborating with SES across a range of initiatives to build upon their expertise in satellite communications and increase connectivity to critical services and applications for customers in remote and underserved areas,†said Ross Ortega, partner and product manager of Azure networking at Microsoft.
Azure customers will also receive access to SES’ O3b mPOWER communications system, which is scheduled to launch in 2021.
