Raytheon has formed partnerships with defense firms to develop new offerings focused on next-generation ground vehicles, munition systems and avionics platforms.
It said Wednesday that it plans to integrate technologies such as thermal sights, unmanned aerial systems and wireless TOW missiles into the Lynx combat vehicle the company is developing as a joint bid for the U.S. Army’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle competition.
The company announced in August that it teamed up with Rheinmetall Defense and Pratt & Miller to develop Lynx for the OMFV program ahead of the platform’s scheduled fielding in 2026.
In addition, Raytheon has partnered with Saab to build the Guided Carl-Gustaf Munition designed to engage moving targets from inside structures at a distance of up to 1.24 miles. The Raytheon-Saab team is continuing flight tests for the laser-guided weapon system.
Raytheon’s third collaboration involves the development of a unified aviation system with Pivotal Software that will simplify avionics activities and enable aircrews to exchange information in difficult environmental conditions.
Other new developments include a variant of the company’s Excalibur projectile for mobile targets, the DeepStrike precision-strike missile and an updated Coyote Block II UAS slated to be available worldwide.
