
The National Institute of Standards and Technology has granted almost $4M in awards to help 19 small businesses pursue technology projects.
These projects support Phases I and II of NIST“™s Small Business Innovation Research program, the agency said Friday. Awardees come from 12 states, including California, Maryland, Michigan, Wisconsin and Texas.
Grant recipients will receive up to $100K for commercial feasibility research under the SBIR program“™s first phase. Participants that advance to the second phase will compete for a maximum of $400K in funds for continued development.
NIST will use non-SBIR funds to finance and commercialize projects under the program“™s third phase.
Projects cover a variety of technology topics such as silicon nanowire sensors, fiber optics, cloud security guidance, nanoparticles and laser particle separation.
