General Dynamics’ mission systems business has unveiled a new autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle at the Defense and Security Equipment International 2019 event in London. The Bluefin-12 undersea platform features open architecture compatibility, embedded intelligence functions and expanded mission modularity that will enable rapid integration of payloads and sensor systems, General Dynamics said Tuesday.
In addition, users may purchase an optional turnkey package to equip the vehicle with integrated survey capabilities including navigation and on-board data processing.
“We are proud to add the Bluefin-12 to our UUV family of products and to deliver both the Bluefin-12 and Bluefin-9 UUVs to Thales in support of the Royal Australian Navy’s SEA 1778 program,†said Andy Rogers, vice president of undersea systems at General Dynamics’ mission systems business.
