Elbit Systems’ U.S. arm has agreed to provide certain technologies for a Boeing-made pilot training aircraft.
It will supply cockpit displays, embedded training systems, datalinks and other technologies to help Boeing deliver the T-X training aircraft to the U.S. Air Force, Elbit Systems of America said Monday.
Elbit-made ground and air datalinks will allow T-X trainees to virtually simulate operations of 5th generation aircraft such as the F-35 Lightning II.
Other supplies under Elbit’s agreement include upfront control panels, engine fuel indicators, large area displays and associated spares.
The T-X aircraft is a two-seat trainer that USAF intends to use as a replacement for Northrop Grumman's T-38 Talon. Boeing won a 16-year, $9.2B contract last year to produce 475 T-X units under a partnership with Swedish firm Saab.
