Boeing has received a $51.6M contract to obtain advanced capability mission computers for the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18 combat jets.
The service branch is obligating the full contract amount at the time of award to fund the procurement of 136 aircraft computer units, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Work under the firm-fixed-price contract will take place in St. Louis through February 2022.
Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity and did not use a competitive bidding procedure in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation's 6.302-1 clause.
Boeing will also build 78 Block III Super Hornet aircraft to support the Navy's fleet modernization efforts under a $4.04B contract modification awarded in March.
