Axon has started the delivery of a situational awareness camera designed for public safety and law enforcement teams.
In a press release published Monday, the company said that the Axon Body 3 camera works to connect via LTE and provide real-time mapping, alerts and livestream capacities to first responders.
Axon has handed over the initial batch of over 400 cameras to the Oxnard, San Leandro and Tracy Police Departments in California. In addition, the device is slated to receive an officer locator feature and a real-time critical evidence offloading function through a future update.
“We couldn’t be more proud of the first connected camera for public safety – the industry’s best quality of evidence and the addition of real-time features will make officers and communities safer than ever,†said Rick Smith, CEO at Axon.
