Amazon Web Services has helped launch an effort to help Texas-based students prepare for careers in cloud computing.
The company said Thursday it partnered with workforce development groups, educational leaders and Texas state officials, including Sen. Royce West and Secretary of State Ruth Hughs, to introduce a cloud degree program to help college and K-12 students develop data, cloud and related computing skills through the AWS Educate initiative.
AWS Educate seeks to provide students and teachers with cloud-related learning resources.
“From K12 to community colleges through four-year institutions and on into the workforce, training today’s students in cloud computing skills allows them to tap into the tremendous opportunities in technology careers,†said Ken Eisner, director of worldwide education programs at AWS and head of AWS Educate.
The collaborative effort will also engage with Texas-based employers to help address the demand for cloud computing professionals.
