Verizon has deployed 5G ultra-wideband services to the cities of Atlanta, Detroit, Indianapolis and Washington, D.C. The move will allow consumers and business customers to access Verizon’s 5G network via select mobile phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and the LG V50 ThinQ 5G, the company said Wednesday.
Additionally, the 5G network’s higher throughput rate will enable customers to support mobile workforce applications and download large files in seconds. Verizon expects to expand its 5G coverage to over 30 U.S. cities, including Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego and Salt Lake City, before the end of the year.
“Customers in these cities are at the forefront of game-changing technology, with access to download speeds and bandwidth that will power the future of consumer, business and government mobile applications,†said Kyle Malady, chief technology officer at Verizon.
