The SpaceX-built Dragon spacecraft has returned to Earth following a delivery mission at the International Space Station, Space.com reported Wednesday.
Dragon landed at 300 miles southwest of Long Beach, Calif., carrying 2,700 pounds of experimental materials, a small robot companion and a virtual reality film about astronaut life aboard ISS. The spacecraft took off July 25 and delivered over 5,000 pounds of scientific equipment and supplies to the space laboratory as part of NASA’s 18th Commercial Resupply Services mission.
It is slated to return to the ISS on Dec. 9 using a Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX has also secured a contract from NASA to support manned flights for the Crew Dragon spacecraft.
