Triumph Group has developed a sensor technology, which is designed to provide tactile feedback and simulate mechanical flight control platforms, that has been recently tested by Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky subsidiary.

It has integrated the Sensor Feel Module onto a optionally-piloted technology kit that works to allow users to conduct manned and unmanned flights via a pilot-directed autonomy approach, Triumph said Monday.

Sikorsky tested the sensor technology during a fly-by-wire flight demonstration of the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter in May.

“Fly-by-wire capabilities will allow the U.S. and its allies to operate aircraft more safely, reliably and affordably,” said Frank Dubey, executive vice president for Triumph. Triumph’s mechanical solutions business landed a contract in 2015 to deliver parts for the SFM system.
