Samsung Electronics America’s flagship mobile phone products have achieved federal government certification.
Its Galaxy S10, Note9 and Galaxy S9 phones have achieved compliance approval under the Security Technical Implementation Guide, allowing the devices for use within the federal government, the company said Thursday.
The certification also makes Galaxy S10 the first STIG-approved 5G phone, providing 5G access to federal workers, including those at the Department of Defense.
STIG provides regulation on the security of military-level information. The newly-authorized phones join Galaxy S8 and Note8 as STIG-approved devices. Samsung’s STIG-compliant Knox security platform supports the cyber protection of these phones.
The mobile device maker is now working towards Galaxy S10’s approval for the DoD Information Network Approved Products List.
