Raytheon has opened two facilities, one in Colorado and one in Texas, intended to house engineer training activities for DevOps principles and software development. The new facilities, known as “dojos,” were unveiled last year and are located near Denver and at Raytheon’s Cityline campus outside Dallas, the company said Tuesday.

Each dojo houses teams comprised of up to 20 engineers that conduct three software training sessions that last from six to 12 weeks. Focused on team collaboration, DevOps training aims to automate software development procedures such as code integration and cybersecurity risk identification.

“DevOps is really about taking software from the development world and pushing it as fast as possible into the operations space,” said John Catrone, director of DevOps transformation at Raytheon.

The company’s dojo coaches recently oversaw the efforts of a five-member team to use iterative procedures to accelerate the delivery of an intelligence-related project.
