The U.S. Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center has issued a security certification for Raytheon-made global positioning system modules and receivers.

These tools will work to provide modern GPS access to military weapon systems and vehicles such as aircraft and naval vessels, Raytheon said Thursday.

“Because GPS is under constant attack, we worked with our government partners to create new M-code modules and receivers that give the military secure and resilient navigation systems,” said Eric Ditmars, vice president of Raytheon’s secure sensor solutions business.

The modules and receivers employ a platform-agnostic architecture to operate with a wide variety of air, ground and sea systems, he added.

Raytheon worked with Trimble to develop these technologies, which also utilize General Dynamics-provided cryptography.
