Judy David, vice president of mission support at NT Concepts, has said that many organizations hold on to traditional operations such as paper-based processes despite launching efforts to drive digital transformation.
David wrote in a blog post published Friday that these organizations tend to resist the use of emerging technologies to support the transition towards paperless operations due to concerns such as lost information and the resulting need for fewer resources.
She noted that organizations should retrain employees and promote user adoption to ensure smooth implementation of a paperless environment, which may help cut labor costs and prevent compromise or loss of hardcopy materials.
“To make meaningful progress toward a digital data management environment, agencies must address the bias toward paper and the resistance to change, and develop mitigation strategies for the potential and perceived risks of operating within a paperless environment,†said David. “The approach to this change need not be a sledgehammer; a subtle, collaborative, and well-communicated approach can be amazingly impactful.â€
