SpaceX and NASA teams facilitated an emergency evacuation test for the former’s GO Searcher ship to recover crew and spacecraft following mission operations, Tech Crunch reported Sunday.
The exercise saw the teams act out an emergency scenario that required the removal of two astronauts from a Crew Dragon capsule before being transported by helicopter to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
SpaceX announced in May that it intends to use two Crew Dragon spacecraft for emergency abort tests by the end of the year. The move comes one month after the failure of an in-flight abort test in preparation for the Demo 2 crewed mission to the International Space Station.
