Microsoft’s research arm, Intel and Duality Technologies have agreed to collaborate and create new standards for the homomorphic encryption method designed to ensure privacy protection in cloud and machine learning. The companies were scheduled on Aug. 17, to gather nearly 100 artificial intelligence, privacy and security stakeholders for the HE standards workshop at Intel’s campus in Santa Clara, Calif., Intel said Friday.
“The Standardization process for Homomorphic Encryption is a key step towards wider acceptance and adoption of this important new encryption tool by industry and governments world-wide,†said Kristin Lautner, partner research manager, for Cryptography and Privacy Research Group at Microsoft.
“We are confident that the collaboration between Microsoft, Intel, and Duality Technologies on the 4th Homomorphic Encryption Standardization Workshop will accelerate the standardization process and decrease the time to commercial availability of this important privacy protection tool,†Lautner added.
HE helps data scientists and researchers generate insights without decrypting sensitive data by allowing AI computation on encrypted data.
