Maxar Technologies has passed the 100-customer mark for its EarthWatch online repository of satellite imagery and geospatial intelligence data.
Peter Kern, senior product manager for EarthWatch at Maxar, wrote in a blog post that its current subscribers include entities in the government, non-government, insurance, automotive and information services sectors with contracts worth more than $10M combined.
EarthWatch was launched last year and offers subscription-based access to over 100 petabytes of GEOINT data as well as historical satellite imagery to support applications such as machine learning algorithm development and humanitarian missions.
The tool can also be used to support the operations of driver’s assistance systems and self-driving cars as well as the monitoring of facilities used in the energy industry. Maxar also offers a FirstLook service that enables EarthWatch subscribers to access satellite imagery hours after it was taken.
