Lockheed Martin has created a new model for evaluating the cyber resiliency of software-based military platforms including weapons, mission and training systems.

The Cyber Resiliency Level model offers a customized interface that includes risk-management recommendations on how to increase CRL levels for better system management, Lockheed said Tuesday.

It is based on existing risk management frameworks and makes system assessments based on six categories including visibility, cyber hygiene, architecture and information sharing.

“The release of this model builds on Lockheed Martin’s enduring commitment to mission assurance and will ultimately help the warfighter operate in cyber-contested environments,” said Jim Keffer, director of cyber at Lockheed’s government affairs segment.

Lockheed partnered with U.S. military and allied entities to perform risk and engineering evaluations through the CRL model and has deployed the assessment framework to several of its own systems. The company plans to conduct 10 CRL model-based assessments by the end of the year.
