Fast Company magazine has added Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory to its list of 50 best workplaces for innovators. Johns Hopkins APL said Monday it received the award in recognition of the laboratory’s support of high-risk experimentation and interdisciplinary engagement efforts.
“The Lab promotes exploration and bold thinking by all of our staff members — and we have seen this lead to previously unimaginable solutions to a number of the nation’s most complex national security, space exploration and health challenges,†said Ralph Semmel, director at Johns Hopkins APL.
APL noted its Office of Technology Transfer recorded 419 inventions, 30 U.S. issued patents and 63 license agreements for the laboratory. Fast Company established the list to recognize organizations in the areas of engineering, financial services, biotechnology and cybersecurity.
