IBM has launched a new digital platform designed to help active servicemen, reservists and veterans maintain social balance and mental health amid stress.
The company said Wednesday its GRIT tool, which will be in the field testing stage until November, works to consolidate personalized data that artificial intelligence will use as basis to determine an individual’s mental health and social needs. GRIT will use the gathered data to form a digital profile on which an AI platform will base its insights.
IBM iX used Total Brain-made technology and worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs to develop GRIT through a series of brainstorming workshops. Total Brain offers brain assessments to support a customer’s mental health.
“This is a historic public-private partnership with the VA — one that helps veterans bridge the gap when they are transitioning out of service and at their most vulnerable,” said Kathleen Urbine, partner, emerging technology and mobile lead, IBM Services. “Our partnership with Total Brain has been crucial in supporting the mental health and fitness aspect of this tool and we look forward to continuing this important work.”
