Galois will create a platform that traces cybersecurity gaps through a hybrid human-machine approach under an $8.6M contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Codenamed Merged Analysis To prevent Exploits, the planned system will use automated analysis methods to help users comprehend program behavior and develop security gap detection tools, the company said Monday.
Efforts under the contract are intended to support DARPA’s Computers and Humans Exploring Software Security program, an initiative that seeks to create capacities that will validate and address security concerns.
“An automated tool that taps into human insights could help us better find and prevent software flaws that compromise security and privacy, while bringing the costs of vulnerability assessment down significantly,†said Scott Moore, principal scientist for the MATE project.
