Northrop Grumman, SpaceX, United Launch Alliance and Blue Origin have submitted their bids for the second phase of the U.S. Air Force’s Launch Service Procurement program, SpaceNews reported Monday.
The Air Force issued in May a solicitation for the LSP Phase 2 program, which seeks to award contracts to two domestic commercial service providers that can launch national security payloads.
The service branch will downselect two companies in 2020 to perform up to 34 national security launch missions for the intelligence community and military agencies from 2022 to 2026. All bidders are working on new rockets and updating existing vehicles for the LSP program, according to the report.
