TYSONS CORNER, VA, August 22, 2019 — The team behind FirstNet, the nationwide public safety broadband network developed by a partnership between AT&T (NYSE: T) and the First Responder Network Authority, has revealed the network supported 175 missions so far this year as it outlines a roadmap for expansion over the next five years, GovCon Wire reported Monday.
FirstNet, which has facilitated 750K connections and reached nearly 9K in public agency subscriptions, is anticipated to explore the network core, coverage and capacity, voice communications, secure information exchange and user experience as its high-priority areas to develop further investment, Government Technology reported Friday.
“We all need to be connected, from the police department to the fire department to the person in the ER,” said Stacy Schwartz, vice president of public safety and FirstNet at AT&T. “They all need to be on the network for the vision to be realized, and these numbers tell us that we are getting there,” she added.
