The Defense Information Systems Agency awarded HGSNet a potential 1.5-year, $21.9M contract to provide development, deployment and sustainment support for the National Background Investigations System.

HGSNet will help transition current systems into NBIS and perform various software, data and infrastructure engineering work as part of the firm-fixed-price award, the Department of Defense said Friday. Other services covered by the Direct 8(a) contract include testing, system integration, requirements analysis and cloud and DevSecOps support.

The Defense Information Technology Organization will obligate fiscal 2019 operations and maintenance as well as research, development, testing and evaluation funds for the award, which has a one-year base period and a six-month option.

Work is expected to take place at the contractor’s headquarters through Aug. 4, 2020. If the six-month option is exercised, that will extend the contract’s performance period through Feb. 5, 2021. Based in Virginia, HGSNet is a recently-established Small Business Administration-certified 8A joint venture that offers a range of professional services.
