The Department of Homeland Security is looking for developers that can demonstrate an artificial intelligence prototype or proof of concept in an effort to determine how the technology can help government contracting officers review the past performance of contractors.
In a FedBizOpps notice posted Aug. 5, the DHS said it wants to explore the potential use of AI tools to identify relevant information from the Contract Performance Assessment Reporting System and examine how a vendor fared under previously awarded contracts and orders.
CPARS is built to store unclassified records such as adherence to program schedules, compliance with workmanship standards and cost management data.
The department plans to select as many as five participants for the demonstration project through a solicitation approach used in the Commercial Solutions Opening Pilot Program.
DHS added the government also seeks methods to manage the quality of past performance data that contracting personnel will encode into CPARS based on data from the effort.
