The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has issued a pre-solicitation to seek concepts that utilize semantic technologies to validate fraudulent media assets. A FedBizOpps notice posted Friday says DARPA aims to develop platforms that will trace, attribute and categorize falsified media assets to deter disinformation and media manipulation attacks through the Semantic Forensics initiative.
The agency is looking for approaches that can function through complex assets and manage large volumes of internet media. In addition, the concepts are required to use semantic detection algorithms and handle various media types including images, text, videos and audio files.
DARPA noted it will not accept proposals that use sensor noise patterns and fingerprint technologies. Interested vendors have until Nov. 21 to send their responses to the notice. DARPA expects to award multiple spots in line with the program.
