Collins Aerospace showcased the simultaneous network operation features of its new software-defined airborne radio as part of a recent demonstration to Department of Defense representatives.
The company said Thursday that the TruNet AR-2000 radio uses two channels to operate multi-node and Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System waveforms that connect both DoD and Collins Aerospace platforms.
Troy Brunk, vice president and general manager for Collins Aerospace’s communication, navigation and guidance solutions division, said AR-2000 was designed to incorporate multi-channel networking and crypto modernization into the TruNet architecture.
Other features of the software-defined radio include dual internal power amplifiers, software reload capacity and reduced size and weight for potential use in large unmanned aircraft, tactical helicopters and command-and-control aircraft.
