The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention seeks a new platform that will help U.S. health agencies monitor illnesses that result from nuclear catastrophes, Nextgov reported Monday.
According to a FedBizOpps notice posted Friday, the agency aims to obtain a toolkit that will provide health surveillance after the event of a nuclear explosion. The kit will include tools for the collection of morbidity data, a template to guide patient information reporting and a methodology for data transfers.
Morbidity refers to the quantifiable rate of diseases in a population. CDC’s National Syndromic Surveillance Program collects morbidity data for surveillance purposes. The toolkit will also address cases in which NSSP lacks necessary information to address health concerns during nuclear emergencies.
