Real-Time Laboratories, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems’ U.S. arm, will help the U.S. Army develop turret distribution manifolds designed for the M1 Abrams battle tank. The manifold will serve as a hydraulic component to support turret movements such as rotations, gun raising and ammunition loading, RTL said Wednesday.
A tank’s gunner and commander provide control commands that guide the manifold’s movement. RTL will work to develop the turret distribution manifolds in Boca Raton, Fla. The award brings the company’s number of Abrams-related production efforts to seven.
