Simba Chain has been selected to demonstrate a blockchain technology prototype under a U.S. Air Force project that aims to monitor the security of components produced with 3D printing methods.
USAF will apply the Simba Chain platform to the service branch’s Supply Chain Additive Manufacturing Parts initiative, the company said Monday. The technology uses Microsoft‘s Azure cloud computing platform and seeks to maintain data integrity throughout the life cycle of 3D-printed systems for military use.
Establishment of Simba Chain resulted from a grant the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency awarded to a partnership between Indiana Technology and Manufacturing Companies and the University of Notre Dame Center for Research Computing. ITAMCO and CRC collaborated to develop a messaging and transaction system for DARPA.
